Biologique Recherche Facilities Canada

The Biologique Recherche Canada or BRC is a government organization that was set up in 1966 with the mandate of ensuring proper conduct of scientific research. As part of its mandate, it is to protect the interest of the Canadian public in the conduct of scientific research. It has been successful in dealing with projects dealing with such diverse areas as genetic engineering and cell and tissue culture technologies, viruses, bacteria and infectious diseases and their cures, and also with industrial and medical applications, such as drug development, genetic engineering and cloning. These projects are managed by BRC scientists in cooperation with the universities, health organizations, and industry and regulatory agencies of Canada. The main goal of the BRC is to ensure that the results of the research are shared to benefit the society in general.

One of the major goals of the BRC is to ensure that adequate measures are in place for the protection of the interests of the Canadian public. Another major objective is to provide an effective research facility that is capable of meeting the requirements of the various research programs and projects. There are a number of research facilities that have come up to meet these objectives. Some of them are described below.

The Canadian Blood Services Fund is one of the major organizations involved in the maintenance of blood banks. This fund is largely developed by the Canadian Blood Service Corporation. The primary function of the Corporation is to purchase surplus stocks from suppliers and to resell them to the public. It also buys the rights to collect a limited amount of blood for storage purposes and to manage the stocks on behalf of other organizations. The research facilities for this corporation to help in the collection of human plasma, whole blood, platelets, and cells and nucleic acid for diagnostic purposes. It also makes sure that the quality of collected samples are maintained at acceptable levels for proper analysis.

The Canadian National Laboratory is another important service provider in the field of biotechnology. The Laboratory acquires the resources and pays the expenses needed for the research and experimental procedures to be conducted. Some of the major research facilities under the control of this Laboratory include Human Genetics Institute, University of Toronto, Wellcome Trust, and the U.S. Department of Energy. A number of private, Canadian research facilities are also available for the research community. These services provide various services like DNA testing, genomics analysis, transcript profiling, and bacterial and transcriptomic sequencing.

The research facilities also undertake immunology research. The main areas covered in immunology research are allergy related, diabetes, parasitic, herpes, community health, animal health, and others. The main objectives of immunology research are to define the nature of immunological disorders and their symptoms, develop vaccines against these disorders, and develop various methods to enhance the immune system of the body. Some of the research facilities dealing with immunology are Immunology Research Branch, University of Alberta, Canadian Institutes of Health, University of British Columbia, Sunny Bay Hospital, and others. For immunological studies, the subjects include patients with chronic diseases like Diabetes Type I and II, HIV/AIDS patients, siblings, and adults.

Biomedical Research Canada is an independent organization functioning with the ambition of transforming the way research is conducted in the country. The organization has a wide range of initiatives covering basic and clinical research, development and regulation of drugs, biotechnology industry and labelling. With more than 43 institutions involved in the various projects, Biomedical Research Canada is considered as one of the most influential centers in the field. The organization plans to increase the capability of Canadian research laboratories to conduct more high quality research. To make the work easier, the organization provides expert faculty members to the respective departments which helps in achieving greater efficiency in the work.
